Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program Minimum Licensure / Certification Requirements:
State of Texas RCP license, Current RRT credential, BLS , ACLS, PALS, preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
2 years experience preferred.
Minimum Skill Requirements:
Computer, typing, strong medical terminology, critical thinking and time management JOB DUTIES /
Responsibilities:
BASIC respiratory therapy skills include:
oxygen and aerosol therapy, bronchodilator therapy, volume therapy, breathing exercises, patient monitoring devices and techniques, SCI protocols, stop smoking counseling, peak flow, NIP and FVC monitoring.
Verify physician orders for respiratory procedures Safe, accurate application and delivery of all modes of therapy including modes, methods, devices, pharmacology procedures and service equipment required to treat patients with basic respiratory therapies, including universal precautions, infection control techniques and correct handwashing procedures.
Safe, accurate, timely and effective communication.
Appropriate and timely communication with supervisors, charge therapist and the chain of command is completed to meet the clinical needs of the patient.
Age differences specific to each of the basic modalities are accurately applied, assessed, utilized and communicated.
Timely starting and ending of all shifts.
Obtain ABG samples for analysis.
Patient care including but not limited to:
Airway and oral care including suctioning Trach care EKG and rhythm strips Verify accurate physicians orders for respiratory procedures Safe, accurate delivery of all modes, methods, devices, procedures and service equipment to treat patients Communication with supervisors and the chain of command is completed in a timely manner Initiation of ventilator support including mechanical ventilation and CPAP and BiPAP Initiation of weaning protocol Perform other duties as assigned Entity Information Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is a 255:
