High School diploma or equivalent.
Prefer:
Completion of one semester course in phlebotomy.
Experience:
No experience required.
Prefer:
6 months experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION:
No license required.
Prefer:
PBT (ASCP) SKILLS:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to function in a fast paced environment.
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.
Proficient in basic computer skills.
HOURS:
PRN (as needed); Variable shifts and hours to include weekdays, weekends, days and evenings based on department needs.
Hours vary from week to week.
DUTIES:
Responsible for specified computer and department maintenance as required.
Proper and timely collection of blood and urine specimens following hospital policies and procedures.
Technical ability and knowledge base to learn culture set:
ups, advanced specimen processing (including but not limited to initial analysis on analyzers, culture set:
ups, urinalysis, various serological testing) and the ability to train and mentor phlebotomy staff.
