Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Essential Functions:
Performs routine Weigh Station duties such as assisting customers at the service window; weigh-in and weigh-out customers on Weigh Station scales; directing customers to the appropriate area of the landfill, and helping customers understand waste disposal and solid waste rules and regulations Receives, maintains, and accounts for monies for Solid Waste landfill customers; accepts payments in person; authorizes billing of on-account customers; issues payment receipts to customers; accounts for and balances cash drawer daily; prepares daily deposit for the bank; ensures compliance with the City's and Solid Waste's internal cash handling policies; assists in collecting active/inactive delinquent solid waste accounts Enters accurate data into the Solid Waste computer system; keeps accurate landfill records; produces reports and verifies the accuracy of reporting Resolves customer issues (independently and as a team); willingly assists other staff members with research projects, questions, correcting errors, cash balancing and escalated customer issues Conducts peer mentoring and on the job training for new and existing Solid Waste employees Handles specialized department processes and projects, contributes to team projects and performs back-office assignments Completes complex work with little supervision by utilizing critical thinking and proven problem-solving skills Assists the Solid Waste Applications Coordinator and Solid Waste Weigh Station Supervisor with testing for new applications and computer information system modifications and upgrades as needed Serves as a back-up to Team Leads or Weigh Station Supervisor in the event of their absence Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance Additional Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
High school diploma or GED equivalent Two years of customer service experience OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job Core Competencies:

Bilingual in Spanish and English Previous experience working in a high-stress environment Experience in Customer Service Proficient written and verbal skills Cash Handling experience in a high-volume environment Conditions of Employment:
Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as needed during Solid Waste landfill operating hours, which include Saturdays, holidays, and inclement weather days Must be able to work outside of regular business hours to balance payments, post journals, create deposits, and complete other miscellaneous duties as needed Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements Physical Requirements:
